Volunteer Opportunities

The Olympia Symphony Orchestra is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization operating and performing in Thurston County, Washington.

The Symphony has been a vital element of the south Puget Sound arts community since 1921 when 30 musicians started performing on a regular basis in high school cafeterias. Today, over 75 musicians play an important role in the community by performing live symphonic music for people of all ages and diverse cultures.

Patrons of the orchestra come from throughout the Puget Sound area, but primarily Thurston, Mason and Lewis counties. A 25-member Board of Directors actively participates in the organization. The Olympia Symphony Guild and many volunteer ushers and concessionaires also support the OSO.

Join in the behind-the-scenes work at the Olympia Symphony Orchestra. No matter what your particular interest, we have something for you...the choice is yours. As an Olympia Symphony Orchestra volunteer you can:

Office Assistance

There are many opportunities for volunteers to assist Symphony staff in the office. Some projects may require an ongoing commitment, while others occur on an "as-needed" basis. We will work with you to accommodate your schedule.

The Symphony has frequent daytime needs, such as:

Concert/Special Events

Concert volunteers usher, serve at receptions and help to set up and staff lobby information tables by collecting subscription renewals, providing information to prospective donors and subscribers and answering concert attendees questions.

Special Events volunteers assist with OSO's premiere fundraiser--Celebrate the Symphony and our annual Fashion Show. It takes dozens of volunteers to make these events successful.

Support Committees

Volunteer your time and talents by serving on one of the many OSO support committees. All of our committee members are friends and community members--just like you. Contact us today if you are interested in serving on these or other OSO committees:
